Spring 2026 CCS Workshop
Spring 2026 CCS Workshop 🌱
On April 16–17, 2026, CURE Lab hosted its Spring CCS Workshop at The Week& Resort, Yeongjongdo — bringing students, faculty, and outside experts together to connect ongoing research with real-world industry technology.
What We Actually Work On
The workshop centered on technologies used in the field, not just theory — CO₂ storage (CCS), rock-structure analysis (Digital Rock), fluid-flow simulation, and data-driven AI/ML modeling. In short: a fusion of geology, fluids, data, and AI.
Expert Seminars
Prof. Joongmoo Byun — Hanyang University
Estimating subsurface properties from seismic data — interpreting the unseen underground and finding optimal solutions from uncertain information, a key step in evaluating CCS storage sites.
Dr. Daein Jeong — SLB
Real-world CCS project experience from a global energy company — balancing computational speed and accuracy, and why a "model that runs in the field" matters most.
Researcher Presentations
Lab members presented projects underway right now — Micro-CT-based rock structure analysis (Digital Rock), pore-scale flow with the Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM), diffusion-model-based seismic interpretation, and CCS storage operation efficiency. These are active research projects, not textbook exercises.
Where We’re Headed
Looking ahead, the lab is connecting experiments, simulation, and AI — building Digital Twin storage-prediction technology and large-scale modeling designed for real industry use.
The goal of our research is not “a paper” but “field application.”
